DEKALB Kemper County Coroner Kathy Lanier has the autopsy report on the death of Nick Naylor of Porterville but she's withholding public disclosure pending notification of his family.
Naylor, 23, was found Jan. 9 by relatives on Hopewell Road about 11/2 miles from his home. Law enforcement officials said he was hanging from a tree with a dog chain around his neck.
Kemper County Sheriff Sam Tisdale has been investigating, assisted by state authorities, but he has disclosed little information the past several weeks. The FBI has also been monitoring the situation.
Lanier said she received the autopsy results late last week from state pathologist Dr. Steven Hayne.
Lanier on Tuesday apologized to Kemper countians for the long wait. She cited time needed for the completion of several tests, plus further time needed for Hayne to prepare the document.
She said it's not unusual for her to wait as long as six months to a year before receiving an autopsy report.
