    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, AUG. 30, 2001

    Retried mechanical engineer
    Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, La., is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Denson, 79, of Covington, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in his home. A native of Mississippi, Mr. Denson served in World War II in the Pacific Theater in the Army Air Corps as a crew chief and then tech sergeant. He returned to graduate in 1948 with an engineering degree from Mississippi State University.
    Upon becoming a registered professional engineer with Louisiana Power and Light, he served his profession through the Louisiana Engineering Society and the Instrumentation Society of America.
    He also served as elder and deacon for various Presbyterian churches throughout his life.
    Survivors include his beloved wife, Lorena Doerries; two sons, Lee Denson Jr. and Dave Denson; a daughter, Dottie D. Schroeder; three stepchildren, Ernest "Ben" Doerries III, Charles B. Doerries and Susan H. Doerries; and four grandchildren. He is the brother of Charles J. Denson and Corinne D. King.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Brewster Denson.
    The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of St. Tammany or Faith Presbyterian Church.
    DOLLY MOFFETT
    Retired from Laurel Police Department
    LAUREL Services for Dolly Moffett were held Sunday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery in Jones County with the Rev. Jonathan Russell officiating.
    Miss Moffett, 70, of Laurel, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Benchmark Nursing Home in Marion.
    Survivors include her aunt, Lela Briggs of the Snell Community and several cousins in the Meridian area.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Elis and Mattie Moffett.
    DR. DONALD MCMAHON JR.
    Dr. Donald McMahon Jr. died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001. He was born to the late Donald and Lydia McMahon on May 28, 1928, in Meridian. He was raised in Selma, Ala., and graduated from Parrish High School. Dr. McMahon attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Tulane Medical School. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, then as chief resident of OB/GYN at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
    Dr. McMahon moved to Pensacola in 1958 and went into practice with Drs. Douglas, Patton and Braden. He remained in private practice for 43 years until his recent illness.
    He had a long list of accomplishments in his career including being a member of local and national medical societies. He helped form the Ultrasound at Baptist Hospital in the late 1960s, where he also served as a past president of the medical staff. He was a former director of Physicians Educational Program (P.E.P.) in the late 70s.
    Survivors include his wife, Cyndi Todd McMahon; three sons, Norris McMahon and his wife, Donna, Donnie McMahon and his wife, Jackie, and John McMahon and his wife, Dana; a daughter, Beth Jarrett; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth O'Brien; his mother-in-law, Anne Todd; 10 grandchildren, Jane McMahon, Ferrill McMahon, Beth McMahon, Winston McMahon, William McMahon, Katie Jarrett, Donnie Jarrett, Norris McMahon, Sarah Beth McMahon and Emily McMahon, all of Pensacola; cousins, Rowena Eastland, Cecia and Bob Kovarik, Don and Marilyn Eastland, Cornelia and Earl Laird and Charles and Ann Ferrill Jr.
    He is also survived by his many friends and patients, including his nurse of 26 years, Claudean Turman and his beloved dog, Mac.
    Pallbearers were Downing Gray, Duff Hart, Barney Burks, Henry Hilton-Green, Erwin Penniman and Dr. James Sewell.
    Honorary pallbearers were R.E. "Doc" Mauch, Woody Burks, Ashton Hayward, Mark Jarrett, Jack Kugelman, Dr. Henry Langhorne, Dr. David Nye and Ken Pfeiffer.
    Services were held Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Bayview Memorial Park. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
    The family requests memorials be made to Baptist Health-Care Foundation or FavorHouse.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Kathy Ann James will be held today at 2 p.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. Lanny Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
    Mrs. James, 51, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include her husband, Tommy James of Little Rock; a daughter, Tina Kelly of Meridian; three sons, Jeff James of Collinsville, John James and Paul James, both of Little Rock; her mother, Pauline Stewart and a sister, Clarice Williamson, both of Meridian; a brother, Carson Ray Stewart of Chunky; and six grandchildren.
