Phil Campbell falls to Oakman

The season ended for Phil Campbell Bobcats on the road at Oakman this past weekend.

The Bobcats beat Oakman in game one 5-1, but lost games two and three 14-6 and 10-4.

Phil Campbell had to feel confident after game one. Freshman left-handed hurler Jack Owens pitched a gem of a game allowing just three hits, no earned runs, while striking out four and walking just two. Even four fielding errors couldn’t dampen Owens’ rhythm on the mound.

The Bobcats had momentum at the plate and on the base paths. Freshman catcher Reed Jackson had four hits in four at bats, including a double. Owens tripled scored. Isaac Duboise singled, doubled, and had three RBI. Shooter Motes also doubled.

However, the momentum and series turned quickly in games two and three. The Oakman bats came alive and the Phil Campbell errors mounted and proved costly.

Oakman piled up 24 hits in the final two games, and Phil Campbell committed nine errors (five in game two and four in game three). The Bobcats also left several runners stranded in scoring position, including a bases loaded situation with no outs that produced no runs.

Chandler Benford had two hits and scored three of the Bobcats six runs in game two. Hagen Raper had a double and two RBIs.

In game three, Benford had two hits and a RBI. Jackson had a hit and two RBIs.

Phil Campbell ended the season with a 24-14 record.
