Tharptown falls 41-6

Shoals Christian opened up a big lead in the second quarter and never looked back as the Flame beat Tharptown 41-6 for their second victory against the Wildcats this season.
Shoals Christian opened the scoring on a 1-yard run midway through the first quarter. The Flame then added three scores in the second quarter to pull ahead 27-0.
Tharptown scored its only touchdown of the game when Brandon Cothrum hit Nathan Gray with a 29-yard scoring strike with 2:20 remaining in the second quarter.
Shoals Christian added touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to round out the scoring.
The Wildcats gained 93 yards on the ground and 85 yards through the air.
Trevor Hallmark led the Wildcats with 42 yards on nine carries. Gray had five carries for 15 yards and Jacob Parker carried the ball three times for 13 yards.
Jacob Parker completed 11-of-21 passes for 44 yards and Cothrum completed 2-of-3 passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Gray was the leading receiver – his touchdown was his only catch of the game. Cothrum and Kelby Hallmark each had 12 receiving yards.
Matt Austin had three catches for seven yards.
Kelby Hallmark returned three kickoffs for 66 yards.
Tharptown had eight first downs in the game and converted 2-of-9 third down plays. The Wildcats were 1-of-4 on fourth downs.
Tharptown travels to R.A. Hubbard next Friday for its final region game of the season. The game begins at 7 p.m.
