Junior county tournament was a big success

The 2005 Franklin County Junior High Tournament concluded on Tuesday, and once again, the event was a tremendous success.
On the court, the action was exciting, the effort was outstanding, and the level of play was most impressive.
We would like to congratulate the Red Bay Tigers for winning the county championship in all three divisions: B-Junior boys, Junior girls, and ninth-grade boys.
Kudos also to the coaches and players from all the participating schools, including Red Bay, Vina, East Franklin, Tharptown, Belgreen and Phil Campbell, for putting on a terrific display of basketball for the fans to enjoy.
Also, thank you to the announcers, bookkeepers, referees, scoreboard operators and school administrators who helped make the tournament possible. And thank you to Red Bay High School for doing a wonderful job as tournament host.
A special thanks goes to Katrine Moore, who helped organize the hospitality room each night for coaches, writers, referees and school officials to enjoy. Thanks also to the restaurants who provided the food.
Don't forget, the varsity Franklin County Tournament is taking place this weekend at Northwest Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell. It began last night, and action continues tonight with a B-team game at 5 p.m., a varsity girls game at 6:30 p.m., and a varsity boys game at 8 p.m.
