Lady Eagles drop two at Rush Classic tourney

The second day of the 2004 MCC-Rush Fast-Pitch Invitational was much like the first for the host Lady Eagles of Meridian Community College.
MCC dropped a pair of games on Saturday, after falling three times on Friday to end the weekend at 0-5.
The Lady Eagles dropped the opener to Okaloosa Walton 4-0, then fell to San Jacinto 6-2.
The young group of Lady Eagles only managed one hit in a 4-0 loss to Okaloosa Walton in the first game of the day, then made three errors down the stretch in a 6-2 loss to San Jacinto in the second game.
Wallace-Hanceville finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, but Shelton State forced nine innings before dropping the game to the Lady Lions by a final of 7-6.
In other action Central Alabama took a perfect tournament record into its final game of the day against Blinn College before losing 3-0. Central Alabama, Blinn College. and San Jacinto all finished with 5-1 records.

MCC drew first blood in the second inning on an RBI single by Katie Barnett to give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Lady Coyotes answered with a run as Lindsey Reyes reached on a single to center and scored moments later on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1.
San Jacinto took its first lead of the day on an RBI single to right by Reyes which scored Sarah Wilson, who reached on a walk, to give the Lady Coyotes a 2-1 lead. The Lady Eagles answered with a run in the fourth inning to tie the score at 2-2. Jessica Lawrence drove the run in on a single to left to give MCC a little momentum.
San Jacinto took the momentum back from MCC by scoring three more runs on errors and Wilson also collected another RBI single.
Okaloosa Walton 4
MCC 0
The Lady Raiders got a one-hitter from Stephanie Rossman which proved to be the big difference maker in the shutout for Okaloosa Walton. The Lady Raiders took a 1-0 lead into the top of the fourth and scored three more runs which was all the offense Okaloosa Walton needed.
Lauren Daykin led the inning off with a triple off the right field fence and Rossman followed with a walk. Both runs scored moments later on a wild pitch to make the score 3-0.
The final run of the day scored on an RBI double by Christina Van Tassel to give the Lady Raiders the win.
Lawrence managed the only hit for the Lady Eagles with a single in the sixth inning for MCC.
The Lady Eagles return to action Tuesday at Central Alabama.
