FOREST Services for William "Bill" Eastman will be held today at 2 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lake.
Mr. Eastman, 68, of Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He served in the U.S. Air Force and on the North Forest Fire Department and he worked for Mississippi Industries for the Blind in Meridian.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Eastman; sons, Van Eastman of Meridian and Vince Parker of Memphis; daughters, Katherine Eastman of Odenton, Md. and Branda Wright of Meridian; mother, Rachel Eastman; brother, Tony Eastman of Boiling Springs, N.C.; and Gordon Eastman of Caty, Texas.
Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Nettie Dennis Breland will he held Friday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hayes Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Mark Warren and Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Breland, 92, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Highland Home in Ridgeland. She was a native of Neshoba County, born Dec. 21, 1911. She was the daughter of the Rev. Samuel Frank Dennis and Jannie Stuart Dennis. She taught school in Neshoba and Leake counties for many years and became part of the lives of those she taught. She loved every student in her own way. She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Philadelphia, where she exemplified her love for missions through active service in WMU. She held offices in her local church, the Neshoba County Baptist Association and at the state level. To further her education, she attended training sessions at the Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly in North Carolina.
Survivors include four sisters, Nell Brooks and her husband, Bob, of Florence, Dennie Smith of Ridgeland, Kate Blough of Tallahassee, Fla. and Polly Bridges and her husband, Dr. Denman, of Gautier; and an extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wilbur C. Breland.
The family requests contributions be made to the Lottie Moon Mission Fund at First Baptist Church, Philadelphia.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
BUTLER, Ala. Services for James Austin "Jiggs" Agerton Sr. will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Aherne officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
Mr. Agerton, 74, of Butler, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003. He was retired from the James River Paper Mill, where he worked as recovery operator.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Briggs Agerton of Butler; daughter, Anne Marie Burns of Branchville; sons, James Austin Agerton Jr. of Petle, Miss., Joseph Brian Agerton of Meridian, Miss., Andrew Carl Agerton of Branchville and Stephen Anthony Agerton of Orange Beach; a sister, Artie Mae Devine of Loxley; a brother, Bobby Glen Agerton of Robertsdale; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and five brothers.
Pallbearers will be Ben Burns, Gene Fambrough, Archie Brown, Vance Cox, Herman Evans and Bradley Agerton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Paul Wallace, Charlie Koon, Bill Wood, George Rackley and William Drinkard.
The family requests donations be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greentree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
HEIDELBERG Services for Olivia Grace Vega will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Heidelberg with the Rev. Mark Covington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Infant Vega, 4 days, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include her parents, Dr. Chadley Thomas and Kendra Burns Thomas of Meridian; sister, Anna Katherine Vega of Meridian; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vega of Oxford; and maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Homer Burns of Brandon.
Pallbearers will be Dale Adkins, Randy Parrish, Arden Oakes and Wyatt Rogers,
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Heidelberg.
Services for Ada Lee Megehee will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Poole-Richie Funeral Home in Bogaloosa, La. with the Rev. Thomas Steele officiating. Burial will be in Ponemah Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Megehee, 85, of Cuba, Ala., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Heartfelt Hospice.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Bowman and her husband, Mark, of Cuba, Ala.; a son, H. Mark Megehee and his wife, Kathleen, of Decatur, Ala.; four grandsons, Chris Bowman, Andy Bowman, Matthew Megehee and Paul Megehee; a brother, Pete T. Byrd and his wife Mildred of Abileen, Texas; and two sisters, Ida Mae Sepp of Ky. and Bernice Vines of Birmingham, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Megehee; her parents, A.L. and Ruby Byrd; her sister, Virgie Byrd; and two brothers, Ed and Billy Ray Byrd.
Visitation will be held Friday from noon – 2 p.m. at the funeral home in Bogaloosa.
Services for Lenora Wolf Callahan will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Callahan, 88, of Ridgeland, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 in Madison. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeland.
Survivors include her husband Harvey Callahan of Ridgeland; a daughter Gayle Webster of Meridian; a son Tommy Callahan of Madison; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Miller; and a brother Louis Wolf, both of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mollie Wolf; sisters Inez Reese, Oneal Wolf and Florine Miller; and a brother Edgar Wolf.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
