Shoals area under an extreme heat warning today
FLORENCE — The Shoals area will be under an extreme heat warning today until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
Today’s high is expected to be around 97 degrees with the heat index hovering above 110 degrees.
The extreme heat warning is in effect in Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties.
There is a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms before 2 p.m. and between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The chances are around 20%. The low is expected to be around 74 tonight.
The Shoals area will see the temperatures cool down on Wednesday. The high is expected to be around 91 with a low Wednesday night of 67.
Higher rain chances are expected Friday night with a 50% chance of rain followed by a 70% chance on Saturday and a 50% chance on Sunday.
