Red Bay wins 3 of 4; Tharptown wins 2
RedBayandTharptown led the way last week in softball with Red Bay winning 3 of 4 games and Tharptown earning a couple of big wins, downing Phil Campbell 6-2 in the Northwest Alabama Bash held Friday at the Sportsplext in Florence, after topping Lindsey Lane 10-2 earlier in the week.
Red Bay 15 Sheffield 0
Charley Lindley was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Red Bay to a 15-0 win over Sheffield.
Lindley also earned the win in the circle for the Tigers, pitching a one-hit shutout and striking out seven over three innings.
Red Bay amassed 11 hits. Kyla Blackburn and Lindley drove in three runs each. Lindley had three RBIs and scored two runs for the Tigers.
Red Bay 6 Sheffield 2
Red Bay faced Sheffield for a second time in a week, once again beating the Bulldogs 6-2.
Lindley earned the win for Red Bay, giving up three hits and two runs over four innings and striking out seven.
Kyla Blackburn led Red Bay with three RBIs. Bella Blackburn stole two bases. Emma Blackburn had the golden glove in the field making nine plays with no errors.
Sulligent 12 Red Bay 2
Lindley doubled home Hadley Griffin in the second, and Emma Blackburn’s flyout brought in McKenna Young in the third for the only two runs Red Bay could muster against Sulligent on April 14.
Red Bay 5 Covenant Christian 4
A two-run triple by Raigan Henson in the second inning gave the Tigers (11-11) a 4-1 lead that they held in their game at the Northwest Alabama Bash Friday at the Sportsplex in Florence. Lindley scattered three hits.
Tharptown 6 Phil Campbell 2
The Tharptown Wildcats came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Phil Campbell 6-2 on Friday at the Northwest Alabama Bash at the Sportsplex in Florence.
Phil Campbell got on the board first in the third inning after Georgia Motes doubled to left field, later scoring on a sacrifice fly.
Tharptown flipped the game in the fifth inning, scoring five runs on four hits to take the 6-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Lexi Little that drove in two runs.
Alyssa Fischer got the win for the Wildcats allowing six hits and two runs over seven innings.
Gabi Johnson went 2-for-2 for Tharptown.
Chaley Bullington had two hits while Motes and Shiloh Madden drove in one run for Phil Campbell.
Tharptown 10 Lindsey Lane 2
Tharptown easily defeated Lindsey Lane 10-2. Fischer, Allie Gann and Cadence Kennedy each collected two hits for the Wildcats. Gann led Tharptown with three runs batted in and was 2-for-4 on the day.
Tharptown didn’t commit a single error in the game.
Kennedy and Fischer pitched for Tharptown giving up a combined six hits and two runs.
Phil Campbell 4 Sheffield 1
Madden struck out 11 batters to lead Phil Campbell in a 4-1 area win over Sheffield. Madden gave up just three hits and one run over seven innings.
Motes and Amyah Hamilton had two hits each for Phil Campbell. Bella Welch, Madden, and Hamilton drove in one run each for the Bobcats. Motes, Bullington and McKenzie Kratz each stole multiple bases.
Mars Hill 7 Phil Campbell 3
Molly Wright scored twice and Ava Bramlett threw a seven-hitter as Mars Hill beat the Bobcats (9-19) on April 14. Hamilton clubbed a two-run homerun for Phil Campbell.
Vina 7 Covenant Christian 0
Braxtyn Quinn and Kenzie Elrod scored two runs each, and MiKayla Shotts tossed a four-hitter to lead the Red Devils (1216-1) to a shutout win on April 13.
Cherokee 10 Vina 9
Layla Gorman scored three runs, and Madison Taylor and Tatum Lockett each had three RBIs to lead Cherokee past Vina (12-17) on April 14. Kari Harper knocked in two runs, and Quinn and Lindie Easterling each scored twice for the Red Devils.
Vina 16 Lynn 5
Kari Harper scored five runs, while Quinn and Lana Bell drove in two runs each as Vina (1317) beat Lynn handily on April 15.
Belgreen 4 Waterloo 3
Shaylyn Bryant singled home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for the Bulldogs (12-13-1) on April 13.
Belgreen 4 Wilson 4
Zoey Blaxton drove in two runs for Belgreen (1314-2), while Bryn Scott was 2-for-3 with a run scored in a tie game at the Northwest Alabama Bash on Friday at the Sportsplex in Florence.
Cullman 5 Belgreen 1
The Bulldogs (13-15-1) were held scoreless until the fifth inning in a 5-1 loss at the Northwest Alabama Bash on Friday at the Sportsplex in Florence. Scott walked and later scored on an error. She also singled while Jemma Moore added a double for Belgreen’s only two hits.
