RHS honors volleyball seniors during winning week

The Russellville volleyball team continued regular season action with a week that was highlighted by a couple of home victories followed by a senior night celebration and win, and then a runner-up finish in the West Morgan tournament.

RHS hosted Covenant Christian and Colbert County on Sept. 29. The Lady Golden Tigers defeated Covenant 2-1 by scores of 25-16, 19-25 and 15-8.

Russellville then defeated Colbert County 2-0 with scores of 25-7 and 25-3.

During the match versus Covenant Christian, Laila Hill led RHS with 15 kills. Fatima Ramirez had 12 assists and Alexia Groce added 10. Bri McCulloch led the Russellville team with 16 digs while Blevyn Sappington and Groce had seven digs each.

Against Colbert County, Sappington led the team with six kills and Groce had eight assists. Sappington added four aces and McCulloch had eight digs.

RHS honored seniors Hill and Ramirez before a 3-0 win over Rogers on Sept. 30.

The Lady Golden Tigers got the victory to improve to 33-12 on the season by match scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-9.

Hill had nine kills to lead the team while Ramirez and Groce had 11 assists each. McCulloch had 15 digs to lead Russellville.

The Lady Golden Tigers participated in a tournament at West Morgan High School on Oct. 4. RHS defeated Grissom 2-1, beat Decatur Heritage 2-0, lost to St. John Paul II Catholic 2-0, topped West Morgan 2-0 and then fell to St. John Paul II Catholic by a 2-1 total.
