Calendar of Events

Sept. 16 – Blood Drive, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Tharptown High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society will have a LifeSouth blood drive Sept. 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in front of the gym.

Sept. 27 – Red Bay Founder’s Fest, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Celebrate Red Bay’s heritage with a full day of family fun at Bay Tree Park. The festival features arts and crafts, live music, food vendors, sidewalk sales, door prizes, contests (fried pie, quilt, photo, coloring), a car-truck-motorcycletractor show, and museum tours. Prizes are awarded for largest family, youngest and oldest attendees, and longest distance traveled. Admission is free. Oct. 4 – Pumpkin Palooza + Scarecrow Trail, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Kick off the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Pumpkin Palooza and Scarecrow Trail from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 4 in downtown Russellville. Scarecrow sponsors will be giving out treats. Costumes are welcome. Take a selfie with The Great Pumpkin. Visit with character guests. Get free goodies from Junior Leaders. Oct. 11 – Spirit of Hodges Oct. 18 – Spruce Pine Day Oct. 31 Fifth Friday: Downtown Russellville presents its third Fifth Friday event with a to-bedetermined “thriller” theme from 6 to 9 p.m.

Al-Anon

Al-Anon meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the First BaptistChurchindowntown Russellville across from the Roxy Theatre.

American Legion

American Legion Post 64 regularly meets the second Thursday of every month at the North Highlands Church of Christ fellowship hall with the meal at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m.

Alzheimer’s Support

The Alzheimer’s Support meeting is held at 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Generations of Red Bay. For information, call 256356-4982.

Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts

Red Bay Museum –

The museum, located at 108 Fourth Ave. S.E., is open for tours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. To schedule a tour at another time, call 256356-8758.

Farmers Markets

The Phil Campbell Farmers Market is set up in front of town hall on Fridays and Saturdays. For information, call 205-9935313. The Red Bay Farmers Market is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Family Fun Park. For information, call 256668-7049. The Russellville Farmers Market is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, next to the A.W. Todd Centre in downtown Russellville, from 6 a.m. to noon. For information, call 256-6687649.
