Groundbreaking for new Norris Library is July 29

RUSSELLVILLE – The city will break ground on its new public library at 10:30 a.m. July 29.

Norris Library will be located on land behind city hall that was donated by the Norris family in 2020 specifically for that purpose.

The 7,520-squarefoot building is being designed by Brad Bernard and Jill Harper Andrews of Create Architects. The project is funded by a $3.892 million federal earmark with no local match required.

The Norris family donated the land in honor of longtime Russellville residents Billy and Leila Norris, who owned and operated the Noris Bookstore and Norris King Frosty.

Their son, Lanny Norris, said the donation reflects the family’s commitment to literacy and public service.

“We always had a lot of books in our home, and I remember both of my parents reading all the time,” he said. “I think they’d be pleased to know this land will be used for something that reflects those values.”

The public is welcome to attend the groundbreaking.
