Russellville City Schools announce large group of new coaches for various sports
Russellville City Schools recently announced a flurry of hires for the teams of the athletic departments of the high school and middle school.
A group of new RHS head coaches were announced for the volleyball, girls’ golf, boys’ tennis and cross-country teams, along with strength and conditioning.
Madison Lamon moves up to take over the varsity volleyball head coaching job after being on the coaching staff during previous seasons. After a couple of seasons without a girls’ golf team, RHS has turned the program over to Tyler Malone who was an assistant a year ago for the boys’ golf team, and he remains as a boys’ basketball varsity assistant at Russellville High School. The varsity boys’ tennis team will be led this year by new head coach Lee-Taylor Bishop. She was also a coach at RHS a year ago helping with the tennis and volleyball programs. Emily Evans has been named the head coach for cross country, and Jacob Danley is the new head coach of strength and conditioning for Russellville athletics.
A large number of new assistant coaches have also been announced at RHS. New varsity football head coach Dustin Goodwin has brought in a group of assistants to add to those returning to the staff this season. Chris Boatwright will coach the wide receivers, Deion Belue and Thomas Goode will coach defensive backs and Torey Baird will coach inside linebackers.
The RHS varsity basketball program led by head coach Patrick Odom has added former Belgreen head coach Marty Cooper as one of his varsity assistants this year. KJ Melson has also been announced as a new varsity assistant for boys’ basketball, and he will additionally serve as the coach of the eighth-grade boys’ basketball team. Angela Woods has been announced as an assistant for head coach Jermaine Groce and the RHS girls’ basketball squad. She has been a part of the program for a few years.
Russellville varsity baseball head coach Jess Smith has added Cole Porter to the staff and Porter will also be an assistant coach for RMS football.
Rick Lawson will be in his second year as RHS varsity softball head coach, and he has added Taylor Cameron and Annaliese Rogers to the varsity staff as assistants.
Russellville Middle School sports will be led by new RMS football head coach and athletic director Dylan Seabolt. New assistants added to the middle school football coaching staff include Porter, along with Cory Trapp and Randy Ozbirn.
Luke Baker has been named the new RMS baseball head coach after a few years on the staff, and Cory Trapp will also be an assistant for middle school baseball, along with his football duties.
Leading the middle school cheerleaders this year will be new RMS head coach Madison Hargett.
Lauren Holland has also been announced as the athletic website coordinator for the Golden Tigers.
