Successful week ends Russellville softball regular season as Lady Golden Tigers prep for area tourney

The Russellville Lady Golden Tigers wrapped-up the 2023 regular season by winning five of their last six games. RHS (20-23) will now head into the Class 5A Area 16 tournament at Ardmore on a high note with hopes of advancing to the regional by finishing first or second.

Russellville 11, Deshler 1

The Lady Golden Tigers went to Tuscumbia on April 25 and got the win over Deshler. It took only five innings for RHS to get 11 runs on 16 hits.

Jacey Moore and Jenna Whitfield had three hits each to lead Russellville. Moore and Addison Holcomb hit home runs. Holcomb added a double and had four RBIs.

Additional Russellville standouts on offense were Summer Butler, Brooklyn Butler, Haylee Rikard, Emma Campbell, Paislee James and Natalie Nichols. Moore also did the pitching going all five innings. The junior allowed four hits, struck out six and walked one.

Russellville 6, Buckhorn 3

RHS went to Huntsville and started play in the two-day Westminster Tournament on April 28. The talented 6A Buckhorn team was no-match for Russellville on this night.

Both teams had 11 hits apiece and Russellville got two each from Whitfield, Rikard and Campbell. Summer Butler, Jacey Moore, Brooklyn Butler, Addison Holcomb and Natalie Nichols all added singles. Whitfield and Rikard had the RBIs with two each. Paislee James pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed one earned run and struck out three.

Russellville 2, Bob Jones 1

The Lady Tigers took down the 7A Lady Patriots in game one on Saturday at the Westminster Tournament.

Jacey Moore pitched a seven-inning gem for Russellville. The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out five. Holcomb hit a home run and was joined in the hit column by Moore, Campbell, James and Nichols. Campbell had the other RBI and the hit by Nichols was a double.

Westminster Christian 5, Russellville 2

Game two on Saturday for RHS was a matchup between the Golden Tigers and the Wildcats in the Westminster Tourney.

Summer Butler and Jenna Whitfield had two hits each. Brooklyn Butler, Haylee Rikard, Emma Campbell and Ticelee Gholston also hit safely. Summer Butler had the lone Russellville RBI. James and Moore combined for seven innings of pitching.
