Tharptown topples Belgreen

On a bitterly cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the Tharptown Wildcats’ bats were hot enough to keep their gloves warm for the field.

The Wildcats pounded out 11 hits and played error-free baseball in a 12-2 win over the Belgreen Bulldogs.

Tharptown opened up a 5-0 lead through two and a half innings before Belgreen cut the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning. The Wildcats blew the game open in the top of the fourth inning, scoring seven runs.

Jackson Clement led the way at the plate, going two-for-three with two RBIs and scoring three runs. Jessie Mitchell went two-for-four with a double and two RBIs and scored a run. Hunter Motes went two-for-two with two RBIs and scored twice.

Ty Engelthaler went two-for-four with an RBI and scored twice. Logan Bevis went two-for-two, including a double and two RBIs, and scored a run.

Bevis also got the job done on the mound for Tharptown, pitching a five-inning complete game, allowing two runs on seven hit and striking out 11.

Belgreen got their two runs on seven hits and committed two fielding errors. Will King went two-for-three and scored for the Bulldogs. Alex Guidry had a two-RBI single.
