Accepting accolades

Colt Thomas of Franklin County exhibited the champion AOB British Heifer during the Junior Beef Expo Heifer Show March 19 in Montgomery.

The show is coordinated by the Alabama Farmers Federation and held in conjunction with the Southeastern Livestock Exposition.

Thomas is pictured with his father, Shane Thomas, and Rhonda Burge.

The Phil Campbell senior was also recently awarded the Tagged for Greatness Scholarship at the Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship Banquet, held April 1 in Wetumpka.

The son of Shane and Vero Thomas plans to attend Northwest-Shoals Community College to major in animal sciences.

He was one of 60 scholarship recipients – and one of two from Franklin County – awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation.
