Phil Campbell sweeps Red Bay in double-header

Two big innings lifted the Phil Campbell Bobcats over the Red Bay Tigers for a 15-2 win and sweep of a Friday double-header.

Phil Campbell scored four runs in the first inning and nine runs in the third inning en route to the second easy win. Phil Campbell outhit Red Bay nine hits to five, and the Tigers committed four errors.

Nate Owens and Ridge Raper led the Bobcats at the plate. Owens went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Raper went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Austen Baker had a hit and two RBIs and scored two runs. Luke Barnwell and Trey Leindecker had two RBIs each, and Rilan Garrison scored two runs.

Barnwell went three innings on the mound for the Bobcats, striking out four, allowing three hits and giving up two runs. Mason Swinney finished the game on the mound the last two innings, striking out four.

Kolby Bragwell went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBIs for the Tigers.

Phil Campbell 11, Red Bay 1

The Phil Campbell Bobcats soundly defeated the Red Bay Tigers 11-1 in game one of the Friday double-header. Baker had a big game for the Bobcats, going 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Phil Campbell scored two runs in the top of the second inning, third inning and fourth inning to race out to a 6-0 lead. The Tigers scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning before Phil Campbell scored five more unanswered for the win.

Phil Campbell outhit Red Bay nine hits to two, and the Tigers committed four errors.

PC’s Owens went 2-for-2 with a walk and scored two runs. Raper had a strong outing on the mound, pitching five innings and striking out 11 batters, giving up one hit and one run.

Haleyville 5, Phil Campbell 3

The Phil Campbell Bobcats fought back after finding themselves in a 5-0 hole against the Haleyville Lions but came up short. Phil Campbell went scoreless through five innings but scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Raper, Baker and Leindecker scored one run each for the Bobcats. Baker went the complete game for Phil Campbell on the mound.
