Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

We have reached the month of March, and the cold rainy days continue to be with us. In just a few short weeks, we can welcome spring of 2019.

I really need to see trees coming to life and beginning to bloom. This makes everyone feel better. The poke salad will be sprouting up, and that will be a welcome sight for all who love this plant.

I have good memories of Harlon King, when he owned Jackson’s Seed and Feed Store here in Russellville. A smile was always on his face when Good Friday would arrive, and people would buy the plants, the seeds and the fertilizer to plant their gardens.  I am sure many readers of Homefolks U.S.A. still plant a garden every year. I don’t have a vegetable garden, but I love to pot the flowers and watch them bloom all during the spring and summer.

I have a great big pile of compost for this year’s planting, and I am looking forward to the beautiful flowers that can be enjoyed for several months. I believe the beautiful flowers and rose bushes are just a few examples of God’s handiwork.

This past Friday several people gathered at “Pump Pond,” Sloss Lake, to celebrate the 200th year of our city. A beautiful monument was erected, and the Franklin County Archives did a wonderful job in making this the success it turned out to be. Despise the cold weather, a good crowd was still on hand.

Several other projects are planned through out the year, and I know readers will want to take advantage of several of these events. I believe one is planned on recognizing several of the very old churches through out our county. This would be a great event that you will want to take advantage of.

Mr. Norris Duncan did an excellent job in the artwork that was part of the beautiful monument. So many people with hidden talents serve our county, and I know it is appreciated very much.

Till next time,

Your friend,

Bobby
