Bobcat boys fall to East Lawrence

East Lawrence 48, Phil Campbell 34

The Phil Campbell Bobcats struggled to score in the Class 3A, Area 14 championship game, falling to the East Lawrence Eagles 48-34.  The Bobcats finished runner-up in the area and were set to travel to second-ranked Westminster Christian Tuesday night for sub-region play.

Neither team could put the ball in the hole in the first quarter. Phil Campbell didn’t make a single basket in the first six minutes of the first quarter. When they did, on a Brett Saint jumper, the score was 3-2 East Lawrence.

The Eagles led the Bobcats 8-4 at the end of the quarter. East Lawrence extended that lead to 24-12 at halftime and held a 37-18 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Ridge Raper was the only Bobcat in double figures, scoring 12 points. Luke Garrison hit three three-pointers to score nine points. Saint added eight points, Ben Williams two points, Isaac Riddle two points and Nate Owens one point.
