Hi folks,
Recently I was reading a report on some of the best places in the South to live, raise a family and just enjoy the simple life that makes us all so very happy.
Several towns in Texas were named, and all the small towns were noticed for the great hospitality they offered. One person from Texas said, “That’s just the way we want to be treated ourselves.” The crime rate in this place was very low, and they contributed it to everyone looking out for their neighbor.
Getting closer to home, the city of Florence was named as a great place to live and raise a family. The article noted that Florence was always looking for new ideas and really taking care of the existing businesses they have now. It was noted that the event called First Friday has added a lot, and the event continues to grow every month.
One person remarked, “This has been a lifesaver for a lot of the small businesses, and sometimes you have to get here early just to find a place to park.”
One merchant told me his cash register would ring until approximately 8 p.m. on First Friday. This sounds so encouraging – and remember folks, that’s only about 25 miles from Russellville.
Here’s hoping that some great events will find their way to Franklin County. We have several projects that take place through the year, but we all need to be seeking ways to add to these events and make folks want to settle in our little part of the state.
Perhaps we all need to stir about and come up with ways to make our county better. I am sure our leadership wants to see things progress and would welcome ideas that could make great things happen.
The quiet little community of Spruce Pine has added so much beauty to their little town, and we see a new industry being located there. The streets have been paved, and the community around this industry has really come alive. I hope every reader of Homefolks U.S.A. will make an effort to visit this little community and see how beautiful it has become.
I’m sure this could spill over into other parts of our county if a genuine effort would be made. Let us think “good times” and “a great future” and make our part of the county a great place to live and raise a family.
