FCSO charges one for murder
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is in the middle of an ongoing investigation regarding the recent murder of Michael Cody, 58.
Michael and Connie Mae Cody, 58, recently moved to Franklin County from Wisconsin within the past few weeks, according to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver.
The FCSO received a call around 11:30 p.m. Jan. 13. When officers arrived on the scene at Ethan Avenue in the Oak Hill subdivision just south of Russellville, they reported finding Michael Cody fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Connie Mae Cody was then arrested and charged with the murder of her husband.
“She’s actually the one who called 911,” Oliver said.
Oliver said officers are investigating what led to the shooting and believe it might have stemmed from an alleged ongoing domestic violence situation.
“We’re following up with their family and trying to track down their history,” Oliver said.
The sheriff described it as a bad situation that investigators hope to get to the bottom of soon.
