Lady Wildcats fall in regionals

By Bart Moss for the FCT

The Tharptown Wildcats’ visit to the volleyball regionals was short-lived. They fell to Faith Academy in three straight sets Thursday: 25-18, 25-17 and 25-15.

“This season has been a whirlwind,” said Tharptown coach Tracey Fretwell. “I am so proud of my girls for how far they have come in such a short amount of time. They’ve worked so hard and have been so eager to do well.

“I wish we could have gone farther, but we’ve accomplished so much already.”

Makensy Hester had 32 assists and five digs. Kasey McCormack had 41 assists. Brooke Daily had four kills, five digs and three saves. Adrianna Borden had four kills. Breanna Gasque, Anslee Bottoms and Amelia Dawson had two kills each.

With the Wildcats only losing two seniors – Gasque and Dawson – Fretwell said she looks forward to all of the returning experience next year. “This team is still young and will be eagerly awaiting next season.”
