Red Bay welcomes Joint Heirs

For those who are fans of gospel music, Red Bay has an event that will spark some interest. At 7 p.m. Sept. 29, the Joint Heirs will take the stage at Heritage Park for Red Bay’s Music in the Park.

This is a free event; all people need to bring is a lawn chair, Mayor Charlene Fancher said.

Heritage Park was built back in 2012 solely with the community in mind, Fancher said. “We’ve really put an effort into bringing the community alive through this park,” she said – through efforts like this special music event.

The Joint Heirs is a group of sisters from Tishomingo, Miss., made up of Melissa, Sandy, Tammy and Jennifer. Melissa said the sisters have been singing since they were little girls in church, and it was just natural to form the band. She said their mother came up with the band name in reference to the Bible verse that talks about how we are “all heirs of Christ.”

Some of their children have even gotten into singing and have formed their own group: Brooke, Amy, Anna and Alison have been singing together for about two years now. They will also be performing at Music in the Park, according to Fancher and Melissa.

“We really like the Red Bay area. Everyone is so nice,” Melissa said.

Fancher said she is excited for the event and to see the Joint Heirs perform again, since they performed at Red Bay’s Founders Fest this year.

“Music is good for the soul, and Red Bay has been blessed with musical talent,” she said.
