Hackleburg 48, Tharptown 17
The Tharptown Wildcats suffered a big letdown coming off their first region win last week. Tharptown couldn’t muster up much of a challenge to the perennial 1A Region 8 powerhouse Hackleburg, falling 48-17.
The Panthers scored the first 34 points in the game before the Wildcats could get on the board. Tharptown’s first score came in the third quarter on a fumble recovery in the endzone by lineman Reuben Alfaro to give the Panthers a 34-7 advantage.
Hackleburg answered, making the score 41-7.
The Wildcats scored their first offensive touchdown on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Carson Petree to Luis Macias. Macias added the point after attempt to make the score 41-14.
Hackleburg added another score late to make extend their lead to 48-14.
Macias hit a 35-yard field goal with time expiring to give Tharptown three more points.
Tharptown will be off this week.
