Hillman, Adkins to wed

Angelia and Howard Hillman Jr., of Russellville, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Shequetta Charie Hillman, to Courtney R. Adkins, son of Rodney and Rosie Adkins, of Opelika.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Howard Hillman Sr. and Dr. Bettie S. Hillman, of Russellville. She is a 2001 graduate of Russellville High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education in English & Language Arts and a Master of Education degree in English & Language Arts from Alabama A&M University. She is an eighth grade English/Language Arts teacher in Birmingham City Schools.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late B.R. Caple and the late Minnie Caple of Chicago, Ill. He is a 2004 graduate of Russell County High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Alabama A&M University and minored in computer science. He is a senior industrial engineer at Fehrer Automotive in Gadsden.

The wedding ceremony is set for Sept. 23, 2017, at 5 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Huntsville.
