Kara Eleanor Coan of Russellville and Seth Adam Pendergrass of Tuscumbia were married on New Year’s Eve in a candlelight ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Russellville. The wedding was officiated by Richard Parker.

The bride is the daughter of Cindy Smith Coan and Reece Coan, both of Russellville. She is the granddaughter of Jimmie Dean Briley of Tuscumbia and the late Stinson Smith. The groom is the son of Bobby and Susan Pendergrass of Tuscumbia. He is the grandson of Sue Alexander of Tuscumbia and the late Wyatt Alexander and the late Robert and Georgia Pendergrass.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. The bride chose a trumpet style gown of ivory lace and organza lined in gold. She wore an ivory fingertip veil and an antique brooch in her hair to complete the look.

The wedding party included Maggie Coan, who attended her sister as maid of honor, and Addie Pickett Harbin, who served as matron of honor. Bobby Pendergrass, father of the groom, and long-time friend of the groom Chase Terrell served as best men. Ruby Gist Harbin served as flower girl, and Cole Wallace Pickett served as Bible bearer; both are cousins of the bride. Abbey Harbin Rea, friend of the bride, attended the guest register. Vocalists were Sherene Wade, Lydia Wade and Laurel Wade, all cousins of the bride. Guitar and mandolin music was performed by Lucas Johnson and Leah Johnson, both cousins of the groom. Brent Pickett, Jacob Aycock and Aaron Harbin, all cousins of the bride, served as wedding attendants. The wedding was directed by Samantha Stone.

The bride and groom shared their first meal as husband and wife with their wedding guests at a dinner reception held at the A.W. Todd Centre. Reception hostesses were Annakay Holland, Kaydee Holland, Jana Harbin and Sherene Wade. Patti Bendall catered the event. Chase Holland was emcee. The couple ushered in the New Year at the Shoals Marriott in Florence. The couple will honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in the spring.
