County schools announce early registration

Several Franklin County Schools will hold early registration for parents of students transferring into the county system next year. After Russellville City Schools Superintendent Heath Grimes announced the out-of-district tuition that will go into effect next year, county schools have been inundated with phone calls and questions by concerned parents.
“We want to make the transition into next year as smooth as possible,” said Phil Campbell High School Principal Gary Odom. Phil Campbell schools, both high school and elementary, are just two of the county schools that will participate in next Tuesday’s early registration. Other Franklin County Schools holding early registration include Tharptown High School and elementary, East Franklin and Belgreen.
“We want students enrolling into our schools this fall to be able to make a smooth transition,” said Odom. “But registering early will certainly help us get everything in place that may need to be shifted around with the expected influx of students.”
Parents of students transferring to the Franklin County school system next year are welcome to visit the school in their geographical area next Tuesday to get their child registered for the 2016-2017 school year. They will need to bring a few things with them in order to complete the registration process, such as: proof of residency, birth certificate, Social Security card, a copy of immunization and guardianship or custody papers, if applicable.
“Many of our elective classes and programs can fill up pretty quickly, so early registration is key to giving every student a fair shot at the classes they want to take,” said Odom. Early registration will only be held April 26 from noon until 6 p.m. at Phil Campbell High and elementary schools, Tharptown High and elementary schools, East Franklin and Belgreen.
