Don Hastings vies for county commission District 4

Don Hastings

Don Hastings is the incumbent for Franklin County Commission District 4, and he said his years of experience and dedication will be great assets in the role if he is elected to continue serving.

“When I was elected in 2008, I promised the people I would do a good job, and I will continue to do so,” Hastings said.

As a retired brick mason, Hastings said he can dedicate plenty of time to the position. That, coupled with his traits of dedication and experience as well as honesty, is what makes him a strong choice for the role, he said.

Born and raised in Red Bay, Hastings said Franklin County is “a good place to live, work and raise a family, with a very good school system.”

If elected, Hastings said he hopes to place great emphasis on working with the county highway department and on working on the debt on the county jail.

Hastings’ wife has passed away. He has five children and nine grandchildren.

When it comes to civic engagement, Hastings is a Franklin County Cattlemen director and an RC&D Council director. He is also a trustee at Freewill Baptist Church in Red Bay.

He enjoys fishing and is an avid football fan as well as a champion Rook and dominoes players.

He will face off with Norris Lewey and Anthony Bentley in the March 1 primary.
