Wyman Pounders vies for County Commission District 2

Wyman Pounders’ favorite thing about living in this area in the people – people he has been serving as a Franklin County Commissioner Districts 2.

“I have worked hard for the people of Franklin County,” Pounders said. He particularly highlighted his involvement in the creation of 600 new jobs and in securing more than $12 million for road and bridge improvements in the county.

It’s primarily his experience – four years as a county commissioner – that he brings to the table in running against Democratic opponent Terry Bolton. Those come in addition to 25 years as a businessman and a total of 35 years as a public servant to the people – Pounders is a retired police officer and retired school resource officer.

When it comes to the skills needed to serve as county commissioner, Pounders emphasized “working with the people of Franklin County” and “having an open door policy.” Pounders also said he will count on the trust of the people to succeed in the role.

Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Courthouse Security Board and the County Cattleman’s Association are areas of civic involvement for Pounders. He is a member of the First Baptist Church.

Pounders said issues he hopes to address if elected to continue with the Franklin County Commission include A.T.R.I.P. projects, securing funds for Oak Hill Subdivisions, dealing with flooding issues and “securing grants for minor collector roads.”

Pounders is married to Roxann and has three daughters: Carrie Dearman, Cristy Singleton and Magen Sparks. He also has four grandchildren. He enjoys old cars, visiting the Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park and interacting with the people of Franklin County. He also runs Pounders Cattle and Poultry Farm.
