A.C.E.S. has upcoming events for the community

Alabama Private Applicator Permit

 

This Training will take place on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Lawrence County Extension Office located at 13074 ALA-157, Suite 6, Moulton, Alabama.

To secure a training manual and to pre-register, call the Lawrence County Extension Office at 256-974-2462.

The Fee is $20 and an additional fee of $25 will be forwarded by the applicant to the Alabama Department of AG & Industries

What is a private applicator? A private applicator uses or supervises the use of any restricted use pesticide for producing any agricultural commodity on property owned or rented or on the property of another person if applied without compensation. Who needs a private applicator permit? Farmers, nursery owners, pond owners, and forested land owners will need a private applicator permit.

 

Materials and Qualifications

 

Must be able to read and comprehend the subject matter in English—no tests are given orally.

Must obtain a passing grade of 70 percent or higher on the test and must successfully complete training and testing, then submit an application for a permit.

 

Farmers Market Nutrition Program

If there is a senior citizen in Franklin County who has not signed up for the Farmers Market Vouchers, they need to call the Franklin County Extension Office at 256-332-8880 and sign up or they can sign up online at, fma.alabama.gov/senior nutrition,  Or they can call the City of Red Bay at 256-356-4473, extension #3.

There are less than 5,000 vouchers available at this time.

 

Serv Safe Classes for Restaurant Managers will be held on June 9-10, 2015 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Franklin County Extension Office and the cost is $125 per person.  Susan Hill instructs this class.
