Hargett, Higgins wed

Kelli Paige Hargett and Robert Craig Higgins were united in holy matrimony on March 7, 2015, at five o’clock in the evening at Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham, with Mr. Steve Killough officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Randy H. Hargett and the late Mrs. Rita M. Hargett of Belgreen. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Mitchell McCalmon, and husband Gene; the late Mr. Benjamin R. Mitchell; and the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Hargett, all of Belgreen.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Higgins of Wake Forest, N.C. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen P. Sedlak of Little River, S.C.; and Mrs. Alice V. Higgins and the late Mr. Edward A. Higgins of Nokomis, Fla.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a Lillian West gown in alabaster and ivory with beaded embroidered lace and tulle mermaid style featuring a jeweled neckline and high illusion back enclosed by fabric buttons. The look was completed with a sweep length train. The natural waist was complimented with a beautiful beaded belt encrusted with Swarovski crystals and pearls creating a unique design. She wore a single-tiered illusion veil of English tulle, beaded with Swarovski stones edged with pearls. She carried a bouquet of fuchsia pink roses accented with crème white spray roses, white wax flower, and Israeli Ruscus greenery, wrapped in an heirloom handkerchief and draped with a hanging rhinestone broach displaying a picture of her mother, all styled by Mr. Chase Sparks, floral coordinator for the event.

Mrs. April Emerson Whisnant, friend of the bride, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kristin Hunt Hargett, sister-in-law of the bride; Miss Jessica Higgins, sister of the groom; Mrs. Johnine Jones Rhodes, cousin of the bride; and Miss Allie Bjurman, Miss Blythe Forehand, and Miss Kelly Stout, all friends of the bride. Miss Ana Kathrine Whisnant, friend of the bride, served as flower girl.

Mr. Branden Diamanti and Mr. Eric Johnson, friends of the groom, served as Best Men. Groomsmen included Mr. Brent Hargett, brother of the bride; Mr. Kyle Higgins, brother of the groom; Mr. Andrew Billings, Mr. Thomas Bunbury, and Mr. Scott Powell, all fraternity brothers of the groom; and Mr. Duncan Smith, friend of the groom. Mr. Kaden Higgins and Mr. Byson Higgins, nephews of the groom, were Ring and Bible Bearers.

Program attendants were Mrs. Suzanne Grissom Glass and Mrs. Brandy Wooten Upton, friends of the bride. Ushers for the ceremony were Mr. Matthew Bowers, Mr. Hasin Gandhakwala, and Mr. Nicholas Hall, all friends of the bride and groom; and Mr. Joseph Brejda, fraternity brother of the groom. Music was provided by Mr. Eugene Pipas, organist and pianist; Miss LouAnna Smith, vocalist; and Mr. Duncan Smith, guitarist and vocalist. Wedding director was Mrs. Bonnie Zarzaur, and reception director was Mrs. Diane Grissom.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Vulcan Park and Museum overlooking the nighttime skyline of Birmingham. At the end of the reception, guests rang delicate bells as the couple made their exit. After a honeymoon to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple now resides in Hoover.
