by Brandi Miller for the FCT
UPDATE: All schools in Franklin County are participating in this campaign. Each school can be voted for by texting the school name to 22333. At the Franklin County Times we try and shed light on all parts of the county and not just one school, one town, or one area in particular. If you would like an event covered by the Franklin County Times please call us at 256-332-1881 or come by our office.
The SADD chapter of Red Bay High School is asking everyone to get out their cell phones and text for a good cause.
RBHS SADD is participating in the “Arrive Alive Don’t Text and Drive” contest sponsored by Listerhill Credit Union and the University of North Alabama. After School
Ambush is the official name of the contest and a 45-60 minute party full of games, music and prizes is up for grabs. A cash prize of 500.00 is up for grabs as well.
“As you all know, many students as well as teachers and community members text and drive,” said SADD sponsor Dr. Kay Hargett. “Our SADD chapter is sponsoring the Arrive Alive Don’t Text and Drive campaign from March 11-18.
“We need all students, teachers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and the school community to text REDBAY to the number 22333,” said Hargett.
Only one text is allowed a day, and “REDBAY” must be typed in all caps with no spaces. Hargett encourages everyone to vote every day and not forget to do this.
The winning school will receive the Ambush Party on Friday, March 20.
