Smith chosen as DYW for Franklin County

Anna Catherine Smith of Russellville was selected as Franklin County’s 2015 Distinguished Young Woman and will represent Franklin County in the state program in January 2015.

Anna Catherine Smith of Russellville was selected as Franklin County’s 2015 Distinguished Young Woman and will represent Franklin County in the state program in January 2015.

The annual Northwest Alabama Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program was recently held on Aug. 2, 2014 at Norton Auditorium on the campus of The University of North Alabama.

There were 22 young women from Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties who competed in scholastics, interview, fitness, talent and self expression categories.

Anna Catherine Smith of Russellville was selected as Franklin County’s 2015 Distinguished Young Woman and will represent Franklin County in the state program in January 2015.

Smith was also selected as the winner of the scholastics and talent categories.

Hannah McKinney of Red Bay was selected as the winner of the fitness and self-expression categories and was awarded 1st Alternate. Clair Kennedy, also of Red Bay, was awarded 2nd Alternate for Franklin County.
