James Edward Glass, 89, of Russellville, passed away Aug. 9, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness.  He was a native and life-long resident of Franklin County.

Mr. Glass was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy.  He was a retired dairy and poultry farmer and was a member of various farmer organizations.  His hobby was working.  His delights were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at FirstUnitedMethodistChurch, Russellville, with burial in Cherry HillBaptistChurchCemetery.  Officiating will be Clinton Busler, Bo Lloyd and Johnny Richeson.  The family will receive friends Monday, August 11, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Hamilton Glass; daughters, Elizabeth Glass Daniel, Judy Glass Hart and husband, Jim, and Kathryn Glass; his son, David Glass and wife, Mary; his grandchildren, Jennifer Maynard and husband, Scott, Holli Gailey and husband, Sid, Matthew Glass and wife, Suzanne; great-grandchildren, James Maynard, Elizabeth Maynard, Samuel Gailey, Sidney Gailey, Drake Glass; sisters, Ann Richeson, Frances Bowling; brother, Milton Davis Glass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton G. and Fannie Glass; sisters, Susie Franks, Betty Farned, Velma Dennis and Mable Richeson; and brother, William Glass.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Ronnie Glass, Sammy Farned, Jimmy Mitchell, Mitch Mitchell, Dudley Richeson, Phillip Hamilton, Jeff Glass and Leslie Sturdivant.

The family would like to express special thanks to Southern Care Hospice and Gentiva Hospice; caregivers, Faye Baker, Sue Crook and Wanda Hill.  Thanks, also, to all extended family members, neighbors and friends for their help in caring for him during his extended illness.
