Red Bay struggled early on the road Friday night against Hatton.

But, despite four turnovers and only an 8-7 halftime lead, the Tigers erupted for 40 second half points and claimed a 48-14 win.

It marked the Tigers’ first win of the season.

Red Bay played sluggishly in the first two quarters, but seemed to bounce back rather quickly in the second half.

Running back Austin Childers went 67 yards for a score on the third play from scrimmage and the Tigers never looked back.

Red Bay recovered a Hatton fumble on the ensuing kickoff and scored three plays later when Troy Borden found Barry Reach for a touchdown, building the lead to 22-7. Running back Matthew Senkbeil added two touchdowns and Childers another in the half to put the game out of reach.

Red Bay rushed for 148 yards in the second half and had more than 300 total yards.

The Tigers opened the scoring on their first drive with the first of Childers’ three scores, capping a four-play opening drive. Hatton answered with a 58-yard drive midway through the second quarter that ended with a one-yard touchdown run by Shadoe Stephenson.

Red Bay added its last touchdown on a 10-yard keeper by Borden to end the scoring.
