William Edward Barksdale, 82, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.

He was a native of Franklin County and a member of Pilot Hill Baptist Church. He was a custom homebuilder and craftsman locally and in the Shoals area from 1965 until months prior to his passing. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and both Auburn and Alabama football games.

Services were Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Harper, Bro. A.H. Akins and Lowell Humphries officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Marjorie Barksdale, Vina; two sons, Alan Barksdale and wife, Donna, Russellville, and Alton Barksdale and wife, Rhonda, Red Bay; three brothers, Troy Barksdale  and wife, Linda, Gene Barksdale and Bill Barksdale and wife, Barbara; three sisters, Marvalene Yocum, Aline Bendall and Jessie Holland; five grandchildren, Keesha Lindley and husband, Anthony, Ryan Barksdale and wife, Anna, Emily Barksdale, Alison Barksdale and Will Barksdale; five great-grandchildren, Carlie, Kaylie, Carson, Clayton and Katlyn Lindley and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. and Irene Barksdale, and a sister, Arvielene Barksdale.

Pallbearers were Joel Horton, Jesse Hester, Donny Holland, Rodney Scott, Wade Inmon and Dean Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Barksdale, Tim Barksdale, Mike Barksdale, Kenny Hester, Terry Barksdale and Brandon Holland.
