Earl Grimes, 83, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at ECM Hospital.

He was born in Prentiss County, Miss., to Jerdon and Maudine Ivey Grimes. He was a machinist for 40 years and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

Services were Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Doyle Townsend and Bro. Marshall Green officiating.

Burial was in Dennis Memory Gardens, Dennis, Miss.

Survivors are five children, Terry Marshall, Sherry Carranza and her husband, Joel, of Steger, Ill., Kamala Washington and her husband, Buddy, and Rose Grimes, all of Russellville, and Robert Grimes of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Chris Marshall, Alex Carranza, Owen Washington, John Washington, Ashton Washington, Koby Washington and a special grandson, Tommy Grimes; two brothers, Shelton Grimes, of Russellville, and Boyd Grimes and wife, Mary, of Golden; one sister, Jewel Sides, of Red Bay; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Faye Parker; one brother, Bro. Carney Grimes; and two grandchildren, Phillip and Michael Marshall.

Pallbearers were Tommy Grimes, Larry Grimes, Steve Grimes, Buddy Washington, Alex Carranza and Tristan Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Tim and Steven Grimes and Jody and Jason Parker.
