Suspect charged in vehicle burglary cases

A Russellville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after authorities linked him to several car break-ins in the area.
James Dewayne Hall, 21, 28 Twin Lakes Dr., Russellville, was charged with second-degree theft of property, third-degree theft of property and two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
According to Hargett, the police department received three reports last week of vehicles that had been broken into in the Whitten Road area of Russellville.
Hargett said during the course of the investigation, Hall was developed as a suspect.
Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said they executed a search warrant at Hall’s residence on Tuesday.
“Following the search warrant, Hall was picked up for questioning,” Lowery said. “During the questioning, Hall admitted to his involvement in the vehicle break-ins.”
Lowery said there is a .22 caliber Remington rifle that was stolen during one of the break-ins that has not been recovered.
“We are asking that anyone who might have dealt with Mr. Hall concerning a rifle in the last week or so to bring the rifle to the police department and turn it in,” Lowery said.
He added that the person who willingly comes forward with the stolen firearm would not be charged with a crime, but charges could result if the person possessing the rifle makes no move to turn it in.
Lowery said other pieces of property stolen during the vehicle break-ins such as CDs, coins, and two gas cans have not been recovered.
Hall is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail pending a bond revocation hearing in a previous case.
