Arrest made in Vina theft cases

VINA – A Franklin County man was arrested this weekend after admitting to three different burglaries that took place over a two-month period.

Danny Brent Wooten, 30, 11302 Franklin 23, Vina, was arrested on Sunday and charged with second-degree receiving stolen property, second-degree theft of property, third-degree theft of property and two counts of third-degree burglary.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, a victim of a burglary in Vina on June 30 was contacted by Wooten over the weekend. Wooten told the victim that he knew a firearm had been stolen from his home and if the victim would meet with Wooten and give him $200, he would go get the firearm and bring it back.

Oliver said the victim contacted the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with the information and officers went with the victim to the meeting place on Sunday where they questioned Wooten about his involvement in the crime.

“During the questioning, Wooten admitted to the burglary at this particular victim’s residence as well as another burglary and a theft that occurred in mid-April and the end of May,” Oliver said.

Wooten was taken into custody without incident and remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail. No bond had been set as of press time.
