Calloway taking on best from Mississippi
Russellville’s Brent Calloway will face some of the toughest competition of his high-school career Saturday when he competes in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
Calloway, who spent most of his playing time at the running back position this season, will be playing as a linebacker during the game.
Calloway rushed for 1,973 yards and scored 26 touchdowns on 236 carries this season to help lead the Golden Tigers to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A state playoffs.
Defensively Calloway recorded 22 total tackles, had five tackles for a loss, three passes broken up, recovered two fumbles and had one sack.
The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic will be Calloway’s next to last football game as a high school player. He will also compete in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.
The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic will be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. The game will start at 1 p.m.
