Eight meth labs found in one county residence

PHIL CAMPBELL – A Franklin County man remains in custody after being arrested for having eight separate meth labs at his residence on Friday.

Kenneth Wayne Campbell, 53, 95 McMicken Road, Phil Campbell, has been charged with drug trafficking, first-degree manufacture of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.

According to investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, officers received information from a confidential informant that Campbell was in possession of several meth labs.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s residence, which they executed on Friday, officials said.

Investigators said six one-pot meth labs were found in a cooler along with two generators, a bag of chemicals and tools used to manufacture the meth.

Authorities found two one-pot meth labs in the household garbage can and a burn pile in the backyard.

In addition to the meth labs, authorities discovered a homemade short-barreled shotgun inside the house.

The defendant, who was at the residence and armed with a .22 caliber pistol at the time the search warrant was executed, was taken into custody without incident.

Members of HAZMAT secured the residence and cleaned up the labs.

Officers from Russellville Police Department and Hackleburg Police Department assisted with the search warrant and arrest.

Campbell is in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
