RHS stays perfect in region games

Russellville wrapped up its region schedule with a 49-6 victory against Columbia to finish the season 7-0 in region competition.

The Golden Tigers (8-1, 7-0) opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Devan Parker to Romano Craig early in the first quarter.

Brent Calloway extended the lead with touchdown runs of 1 yards and 30 yards to put the Golden Tigers ahead 21-0.

Tevin Cross recovered a Columbia fumble and returned its 37 yards for Russellville’s next score.

Parker got his second touchdown pass of the night when he found Robert Terrell on a 6-yard scoring play to give Russellville a 35-0 lead at halftime.

Russellville scored twice in the third quarter with a 3-yard run by Cross and a 2-yard run by Terrell.

Columbia (5-4, 3-4) scored in the fourth quarter to ruin Russellville’s shutout bid.

Calloway rushed for 133 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns.

Despite the high score, the Russellville offense had only 225 yards of total offense because many of the drives began in Columbia territory.

Russellville finishes the regular season at Florence next Thursday.
