RC&D makes donation to commission
“We really appreciate the RC&D council for all the work they do to help our community and we are very grateful that they were able and willing to help us on this particular project,” Probate Judge and county commission chairman Barry Moore said.
During Monday’s regular meeting, the commission also passed a resolution declaring Oct. 25 as “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” day.
Commissioners passed the resolution, which was introduced by the Russellville Fire Department, to honor those who have battled breast cancer. October is nationally recognized as breast cancer awareness month and members of the fire department have been wearing pink tee shirts all month.
In other business, the commission:
• appropriated $40,000 to the Franklin County Development Authority
• appointed Mike Vaughn and Judy Malone to the NACOLG board
• passed resolution in support of state amendments #1 and #3 that will appear on the Nov. 2 general election ballot
• approved closing county offices on Nov. 25-26 in observance of Thanksgiving
• declared sheriff’s patrol cars and iron beds as surplus property
• promoted Billy Jefferson from a sheriff’s deputy to sergeant.
