A-Day game was a big tease

The rumble of 92,000 plus fans — even more this year when the season starts with the stadium expansion — screaming Roll Tide at the top of their lungs makes me just want to pack up and move to T-town once football season hits.

For those of you who weren’t paying attention, the University of Alabama had their spring football game last weekend, which served as a monumental tease for me as I have been longing for the real deal  since the final game in January.

While watching the game I saw lots of potential to be on top again this season — sorry, I’m trying not to be bias but I can’t help it.

I will admit a few things. There will be a lot of new faces to pay attention to because of last year’s defensive seniors moving on to bigger and better things and the Crimson Tide’s kicking game needs a little work since we lost Leigh Tiffin’s leg to graduation.

But I’m sure Saban has numerous tricks up his sleeve come game time this fall.

There are a lot of games I would like to go to this season, but lets face it, getting a ticket to see last year’s BCS National Champions at a decent price was not an easy task unless you were a season ticket holder.

Plans for this year is to be down there for Penn State and Florida, but not so sure I’ll be able to get in the gates.  If not, there is always a pleasant atmosphere around the stadium and maybe someone with a satellite television in the back of his or her car will let me camp out and watch the whole game.

Even though my daughter isn’t old enough to even hold her head up yet, I can’t wait to introduce her to the Crimson and White nation.

She is going to look like a beautiful angel, dressed up in Bama gear this season. Some may accuse me of trying to brain wash my child into thinking U of A is the best — I say to them that is exactly what I am going to do when she grows up and has the ability to comprehend things.

College hoops occupied me in March for a little bit and made me forget how much I wanted football to start and now the arrival of my new daughter has really kept my mind off of everything sports related, but it has not erased the fact that with everyday we inch closer to the season opener.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy watching other sports like golf, NASCAR, the Cubs and some NBA teams, but there is nothing like setting down with an ice cold beverage, a nice grilled brat on a bun and a big screen television with a full Saturday of college football games lined up for enjoyment.
