Are collegiate sports better than the pros?

By Staff

College sporting events seem to take me on a ride every time I watch a game between two schools.
March Madness mania has now taken the sports world by storm and it seems I have gotten off a roller coaster every time I finish watching a game.
College football affects me the same way. I don't know if it is a southern thing or if it is because Alabama doesn't have any pro teams, but my friends and I share the same feelings about the idea that college sports are better than pro sports.
One of my closest friends tried to explain it by saying "it's a money thing." He believes that college sports play more for pride and pro sports just play for the money.
I halfway agree with him but here is my deal – pro sports should be just as exciting because guess where most of pro sports get their players – from college – so shouldn't all college athletes carry with them the passion and pride they have acquired from college?
I can't wait to see if Tim Tebow will carry that passion with him into the pros or get swallowed up by the money he makes. I believe if he does carry it over, then we will have the chance to see how the passion and pride will affect the pro way of thinking.
I'm sure though it will be very easy to get sucked into the millions he could possibly be making as a pro athlete.
I also know when people go pro in a sport they are taking something they enjoy and turning it into their job. Lets face it, no matter what job anyone takes on, that job will wear down any individual to the point were the view transforms from doing something enjoyable to having to do the activity for survival.
That could also very well be an argument in contrast to college versus pros.
I enjoy college sports thoroughly and I believe I would enjoy pro sports too, if they carried a little more pride and passion in their sports.
I know money talks and that's the way it is, but believe me pro ticket sales would definitely sky rocket if they had a few more passionate moments from time to time.
Nevertheless, March Madness has begun and the A-day game is right around the corner.
The passion of college fans lasts all through the year and I for one enjoy every minute of it.
I am on the edge of my seat for every NCAA basketball game and I am getting anxious for fall to come so I can see the Tide roll again.
Whatever may cause the chaos, I'm proud to be apart of the excitement. There I've said my peace. Until next time, Later Dayz…
