Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott announced Thursday that he will not seek an eighth term in office.
Plott has served as the county’s sheriff since first being elected in 1982. During that time he has built an impressive resume.
He has led the department through many changes and has been a driving force in the community.
His legacy will surely be a lasting one.
Though there are always some detractors who disagree with certain things that any political or public figure does, Plott, without question, has had the overwhelming support of county residents.
You don’t get elected to office seven times if people don’t believe in you.
Whoever fills that vacancy will certainly have some big shoes to fill.
