A Franklin County man charged with inappropriately enticed an 8 year-old girl in August 2009, has been indicted by a Franklin County grand jury.
Phil Campbell Police Chief Merrell Potter said John Wayne Vickery, 45, of 110 Campbell Arms Apartments, Apt, C7, has been indicted on charges including interfering with child custody and enticing a child into a vehicle or house for immoral purposes.
Sgt. Terrell Potter arrested Vickery on Tuesday, Aug. 18 after reports claiming he was able to entice a young girl to climb the back wall of the apartment building up to his second-story apartment on Aug.13 at Campbell Arms apartment complex.
Authorities said the child used an electrical box and phone cable to climb up to Vickery’s apartment.
Investigators said the child escaped through the front door after Vickery allegedly hugged and kissed her inappropriately.
Franklin County Courthouse officials said the charges against Vickery are Class C felonies and if convicted he can face up to 10 years in prison.
The indictments were returned during the January session of the Franklin County grand jury.
