Red Bay B-team knocks out Belgreen in semifinals

RED BAY – The Red Bay B-Team boys used a strong defensive effort during the third quarter Thursday to extend its lead against Belgreen and advance to the finals of the Franklin County Tournament with a 56-50 win against the Bulldogs.
The Tigers led 11-10 by the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 30-22 by halftime.
Red Bay limited Belgreen to four points in the third quarter while scored 14 points to push its lead to 44-26 heading into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs would not go down without a fight though. Belgreen pulled within nine points before Red Bay began a run to extend its lead to 52-39.
The Bulldogs ended the game on an 11-4 run, but ran out of time before they could complete the rally.
Hunter Childers and Bradley Patterson scored 12 points each to led the Tigers while Brett McDowell added nine.
Also scoring for Red Bay were Matt Montgomery (7), Ben Hubbard (6), Austin Sparks (6) and Ethan Blanton (6).
Jake Tittle scored a game-high 13 points for Belgreen while Tyler Medina added 12 points.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Steven Hall (8), Drew Quillen (6), Channey Simmons (4), Caleb Mitchell (3) and Zach Leverett (3).
With the win Red Bay will play the winner of the Phil Campbell-Tharptown game for the county title at 5 p.m. tonight at Red Bay High School.
Belgreen 67,
Vina 21
The Bulldogs used depth and speed to knock off Vina 67-21 Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the Franklin County Basketball Tournament.
The Bulldogs led 14-9 by the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 30-13 by halftime.
Tittle led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Medina scored 15 and Quillen scored 14.
Also scoring for Belgreen were Leverett (8), Cody Glasgow (6), Simmons (4), Mitchell (3) and Steven Hall (2).
Nicky Miller led the Red Devils with seven points while Ethan Pharr added six.
Tyler Hammock scored five points and Brandon McKee scored three points for Vina.
