PHIL CAMPBELL- An empty 83-acre lot awaits construction from the next highest bidder to bring industry to Franklin County.
The land, which is located between U.S. 43 South and Norfolk Southern railroad, has been set aside to bring in a number of different types of industrial business.
Phil Campbell Mayor Jerry Mays says the process is slow, but he hopes to get someone interested quickly.
Mays said the biggest problem that people who are looking at it have is it doesn’t have a sewage system.
Even though this problem persists, Mays said that has not stopped others from asking about the land.
Franklin County Development Authority executive director Mitch Mays, no relation to the mayor, said he believes that piece of property is one that ranks high on his list.
