University of North Alabama football coach Terry Bowden visited Russellville Wednesday morning to speak to local business owners on how to become a champion of business.
The business and industry breakfast invited business owners throughout the community to come and hear Bowden’s speech entitled “How to make your business a champion through team work.” Executive director of the Franklin County Development Authority Mitch Mays, along with Rachel Boyd and councilman David Grissom, welcomed and thanked Bowden for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and share the knowledge he has gained over the years.
Bowden touched on many aspects he had faced in his own business journeys. He said being “back in the trenches” of coaching has given him a great appreciation for the hard work and dedication people give to be successful.
Bowden also spoke on failure. The three ways people should deal with failure include looking at failure with a different perspective, taking your mistakes and learning from them and looking at failure relative to time.
Bowden made a few comments concerning the upcoming retirement of his father, Bobby Bowden, as head coach at Florida State University. He will retire after the Seminoles’ bowl game as the second winningest coach in major college football history.
With emotion in his eyes, Bowden said his father loved coaching and had been coaching ever since he was a little boy.
